Director Tom Carter of Agua Pura Para El Pueblo hosted an informal meeting on Wednesday, May 19th, at the Lucky Lab brew pub in Portland. Local Portlanders with a variety of interests and backgrounds in issues dealing with water and sanitation shared their experiences about programs they were working on. A number of interesting projects were talked about with members offering suggestions and support to each other. One participant was working on a summer program to teach advanced high school students about water and sanitation issues and others talked about local demonstration programs of sanitation and recycling. Tom Carter shared some of Agua Pura's plans for promoting safe drinking water in Latin America. It was a pleasant and informative evening and the group agreed to form an informal email group to share information and ideas and to meet occasionally in the future.
